Our Story: It all began in Fall 2019, when my wife Amanda bought me a vertical smoker for my birthday. I had been intrigued by smokers for the previous 2 years or so after enjoying some authentic BBQ down in Texas, but I guess she knew I would never pull the trigger on one. After getting over my initial excitement, I immediately went on to make some very mediocre (at best) BBQ in the coming months. However, I became obsessed with getting better and started studying famous Pitmasters such as Aaron Franklin and Rodney Scott. I studied different types of cookers, dry rubs, wood pairings, fire management skills, wrapping (or not wrapping) and most importantly the many different styles of the best BBQ regions in the US. I then began sharing my food more and more with family, friends, neighbors and essentially anyone else in the community who was willing to try it! The feedback for our food kept getting increasingly better, which fueled my obsession to keep getting better. My BBQ, paired with Amanda's (whose family has southern roots) delicious homemade sides gave us the confidence to then start Ferris BBQ, and share our flavors with the rest of NJ!
Our Mission: To bring flavors from some of the best BBQ regions in the country to Jersey, while adding a bit of our own style as well. All of our food is handcrafted and made from original recipes inspired by authentic southern-style BBQ.
